Joyce Newman Scott began her modeling career at nineteen. After moving to South Florida as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines, she started her own model/talent agency. She divided her time between flying and developing the European market for her talent agency.

In 1977 she turned her attention to acting, and appeared in commercials for Carnival Cruise Lines, Popeye’s Chicken, and Black and Decker. She was a spokesperson for Levitz furniture chain and also appeared in several movies. She continues to pursue her acting career and is available for castings.

Always looking for the next challenge, Joyce started college in her fifties and studied Screenwriting at the University of Miami and Creative Writing at Florida International University.

Her short stories have appeared in multiple Chicken Soup anthologies and Not Your Mother’s books. Chicken Soup: The Wonder of Christmas was released in 2019, and Life Lessons From the Cat was released in May, 2019. Laughter is the Best Medicine was released in 2020. Be You will be released in 2021.

Her play The Audition was read at the 2015 Players Follies Play Reading Festival and performed at Short Cuts 6 in Boca Raton, Florida.  The Menopausal Freshman monologue was performed at 2018 Players Follies Festival. The Happy Place was performed at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Seaside Players Community Theater’s production of Sea Shorts and GB Production’s North Park Vaudeville & Candy Shoppe, San Diego, CA. And Silver City Community Theater’s Evening of 10-Minute Plays, New Mexico. The Happy Place was one of 15 Winners at the Raven Theatre Festival in Healdsburg, CA. and The Menopausal Freshman monologue has recently been chosen by Lita Doolan to be performed by Burning Man Festival, Zoom in the U.K. And The Menopausal Freshman is soon to be published by Smith & Kraus in Best Woman’s Monologues of 2021.
